We had a wonderful surprise at church on Sunday. TJ and I got to renew our vows. Mark and Laura Shook were completing a marriage series (you can hear it on www.communityoffaith.tv). This was the finale of sorts.
Looking back at our actual marriage ceremony, I can tell you that we were determined to have fun. We were on the Salt Grass Trailride and we were out at Houston Farm & Ranch. We were dressed up in our cowboy best. The pastor was a cowboy. The ceremony centered on putting Christ in the middle of the marriage. Pastor Valmon told us that a marriage is like a rope. One strand of a rope is not very strong. It can break at the slightest tug. Two strands (husband and wife) are a little stronger. It can hold a lot, but is still breakable. When you add that third strand (Jesus) to the rope, the rope becomes so strong you can probably pull a wagon with it (nice analogy, huh? LOL). Valmon then put the lasso around TJ and I and finished the ceremony. It was a great ceremony. TJ got teary eyed, and I laughed at him. It was a wonderful and meaningful ceremony.
But......I gotta tell you...even though we did not expect this renewal of our vows, it felt every bit as wonderful to us. Mark asked us to turn to each other (as he did with probably 300 other couples in the church) and look into each others eyes. When we did that, the rest of the church was gone. This time, I got teary eyed (and TJ loved me enough not to point that out). So thank you Pastor Mark and Laura for a wonderful ceremony. It reminded me of why I married my dear husband.
Until later.....
